I started rewatching Ted Lasso last week.

At the end of Season 3, I was rewarded by the Apple TV Gods with a murmur that Season 4 is in the works. THANK YOU!

The show, Ted Lasso has been so celebrated because it celebrates the traits people want to see more of in the world – kindness, forgiveness, tolerance, equity and vulnerability.

This is a show that advocates for people no matter what station they are in life. It’s not just rooting for the underdog, it’s rooting for the flawed underdog that expands our mind and hearts.

Ted, like any human, is full of contradictions. His witty, optimistic, humorous facade is an armor for his concealed unaddressed emotions. He deflects with jokes, tees up a good hope, but shuts down any real conversation when it comes to his true feelings.

Ted’s superpower is his optimism. He doesn’t let his lack of mastery of the game stop him from taking on an opportunity to coach.

It’s quite ironic that a man with suppressed negative emotions can have so much optimism for what things could be.

His optimism translates into seeing the best in people and in situations.

And that snowballs into giving his Kit Man, Nate, much needed validation (which he did not get from his own father), uncovering Roy’s ability to coach and never giving up even when his team was on a losing streak.

We appreciate you, Ted.

Love to hear what you think
