This word caught my eye when Ben Affleck used it to describe his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
“I have nothing but respect [for her]. I guess there’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.”
― Ben Affleck
It means usual, daily, commonplace, trivial and everyday.
I suppose the usual commonplace’s norm would be culture-dictated.
For me, it’s similar to Elizabeth Gilbert’s.
“Oh, I just want what we all want: a comfortable couch, a nice beverage, a weekend of no distractions and a book that will stop time, lift me out of my quotidian existence and alter my thinking forever.”
― Elizabeth Gilbert
