Ever scratched the itch to snap, rebut or insert your opinion just because you’re in the right or have the correct facts?
If you have, you must have been faced with the choice of how to assert yourself.
With someone familial, it might be a straight forward in your face statement without caring how you come across.
With someone not so familiar and possibly of a higher social status than you, you might take more care to phrase your opinion to avoid offending.
There is always a choice on how you say it and why you choose to say it.
Knowing how your message will be received, helps your message be received.
Someone who feels slighted or insulted might not take too kindly to being “educated” on whatever the subject matter.
Someone who feels that they are learning from someone wiser will view you as someone who shares knowledge in a way they like to receive.
Which will you be?
Would you like every message spoken and written by you to be effective but still reflect your personality? If you would like to learn to be a more effective communicator at work, let’s chat more. You can read about what I do here.
